TIPS AND TRICKS

Here are a few things to consider when it comes to navigating Aldi’s offerings and making the most of your healthy shopping:

  1. Quality Doesn’t Mean Expensive: Aldi is like that friendly neighbor who surprises you with gourmet-quality foods at shockingly affordable prices. Don’t assume that eating healthy has to break the bank – Aldi’s selection proves that top-notch ingredients can be kind to your wallet too.
  2. The Fresh Factor: While it’s tempting to load up on packaged goodies, remember that Aldi’s fresh produce section is a goldmine. Veggies, fruits, and greens galore can fill your cart without weighing down your expenses. Think color, think variety, think fresh.
  3. Read Labels Wisely: Just like anywhere else, it’s essential to read labels at Aldi too. Opt for products with shorter ingredient lists, focusing on foods that your great-grandma would recognize. Whole foods, fewer additives – that’s the way to go.
  4. Healthy Snacking Made Easy: Aldi’s shelves are lined with smart snacking options. From nuts and seeds to Greek yogurt and dried fruits, you can create a satisfying snack stash that won’t leave you digging through a candy drawer.
  5. Weekly Specials and Finds: Keep an eye out for Aldi’s weekly specials. They often spotlight a range of fresh foods and even organic choices. It’s a fabulous way to experiment with new ingredients while keeping your budget in check.
  6. Seasonal Surprises: Aldi is all about embracing the seasons. You’ll find an array of seasonal produce at amazing prices. This not only keeps your meals exciting but also supports your local food ecosystem.
  7. Plan Your Menu: Before you dash to Aldi, do a quick meal plan for the week. This way, you can target the specific ingredients you need and avoid overspending on items that might languish in your pantry.

FRIDGE/FREEZER AND PANTRY STAPLES FROM ALDI

Organic Whole Milk:

This versatile staple is something I always have on hand. I like this milk for cereal, smoothies, or added to recipes. It’s even delicious on its own.

Orange Juice:

Aldi’s never-from-concentrate orange juice is light and refreshing. Whether enjoyed on its own, mixed into rejuvenating adrenal cocktails, or used as a zesty base for marinades and dressings, I always buy multiple bottles to have on hand.

Whole Milk Plain Greek Yogurt:

Aldi’s whole milk plain Greek yogurt is creamy and delicious. Enjoy it as a protein-packed breakfast or snack with a sprinkle of my protein granola, a drizzle of agave, and your favorite fruit.

Organic Unrefined Coconut Oil:

I love Aldi’s coconut oil for baking. This is great alternative to use when recipes call for vegetable, canola, or any type of seed oil.

Organic Ketchup:

Aldi’s organic ketchup is a pantry must-have for all ketchup lovers like me. Whether it’s a classic burger or dipping for crispy fries, it tastes just like the ketchup you are used to, but doesn’t have any of the yucky artificial ingredients.

Extra Virgin Olive Oil Spray:

Aldi’s extra virgin olive oil spray is a kitchen essential. You can use this like any other oil/pan spray without any of the harmful ingredients. I like to use this to lightly spray potatoes or chicken before roasting or even grease my baking dish before baking a treat.

Gluten Free Organic Brown Rice and Quinoa Pasta:

Good-quality gluten free pasta can be so hard to find. Its’s either mushy or crunchy and don’t even get me started on what happens when you re-heat the leftovers. This pasta is the perfect texture with a light, neutral taste, it can be paired with any type of sauce or dish.

Organic Light Blue Agave:

Agave is a great natural sweetener to have on hand. I like to use this in my yogurt to take away to tang of the Greek yogurt and add a touch a sweetness.

Marinara Sauce:

I love this sauce for a quick dinner! Add it to some browned sausage for a simple meat sauce over pasta. Or even use it in my chicken sorrento. I like that this sauce doesn’t have any added sugar. Aldi also has a wide variety of organic pasta sauces that are great, as well.

Frozen Fruit:

I always have frozen fruit on hand to add to my smoothies. I like the mixed fruit blend of strawberries, pineapple, peaches, and mango, but there are so many different options to choose from. Additionally, I like to keep frozen blueberries on hand for baking muffins and scones, or even making a quick compote to go on top of pancakes and other treats.
